Huawei cloud announces the release of Huawei Cloud Stack 8.5, the latest version of its hybrid cloud platform, for the Middle East and Central Asia markets.
In a move that highlights the growing importance of cloud services in the mobile industry, Huawei Cloud has reported a tenfold revenue increase in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region over the past year.
The announcement, made at the Huawei Cloud Summit UAE 2024 during GITEX Global 2024 in Dubai, highlights the tech giant’s push into cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI) services.
In its summit, Leap to Intelligence with a Better Cloud, Huawei was able to showcase Huawei’s commitment to driving digitalisation and AI adoption across a broad range of industry sectors, including finance, government, and telecommunications.

Expanding the cloud further in MENA
Huawei Cloud states that it provides services to more than 900 local customers in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. As part of this, it holds an ecosystem with more than 300 local partners across the market.
Additionally, the company has also announced the release of Huawei Cloud Stack 8.5, its latest version of the hybrid cloud platform. Designed for the Middle East and Central Asia markets, its purpose will be to enhance its cloud offerings.

Hybrid cloud refers to a computing environment that combines public cloud services with on-premises infrastructure. It has become particularly prevalent within the telecommunications sector for many reasons, including the fact that it allows operators to process sensitive data locally, in addition to leveraging public clouds for heavy computational tasks and analytics.
The Huawei Hybrid Cloud platform has introduced a range of new features within the platform, which include a cloud operating system upgrade process and enhanced security measures against ransomware attacks.

Improving business access to AI
Huawei also highlighted its AI-related efforts at GITEX, which includes its development of large AI models on hybrid cloud infrastructure.
Currently, Huawei Cloud Stack offers more than 50 industry-specific solutions across six major sectors, which includes telecommunications. It also holds a dedicated business unit for mainframe modernisation, which focuses on moving core services from legacy systems to the cloud.
In collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan, Huawei Cloud also announced the launch of a national education cloud to provide digital education services for over 450 higher education institutions and four million students in Pakistan.

In recent months, Huawei has done a big push on what it calls ‘Full AI’ to expand service offerings within the mobile industry. The tech giant believes that AI is necessary in order to better enable 6G.
